My Take

Thrillers I said to engage the brain in an active experience,  giving the readers a feeling of suspense, anxiety, excitement and anticipation. That’s exactly what the riveting tale of thrill and suspense, Until I find You by Kanchana Banerjee does.

The story revolves around an incident that took aways many lives years back. Jim Jones a leader of the cult “Peoples Temple” orchestrated a mass suicide in a jungle at Jonestown. It is this incident that left Jenny  guilty for being unable  to save her friend Rubina and her son. One day Jenny comes across a picture of a boy in a magazine who resembles her late friend Rubina. This sets Jenny on a quest to find out the truth and lands her in a remote village of Bannot from Delhi. Parallelly inspector Virat is investigating the case of a decomposed leg found at a construction site in the same village of Rajasthan. Jenny and Virat meet and discover some shocking Truths which not just leaves them aghast but also find themselves being a part of a bigger game. What happens next ? forms the story.

Since the plot is set in Rajasthan,  the author, with her skillful narration gives a vivid picture of the place and its people. We as readers get to experience  the heat and dryness all along the journey of the protagonists. The narrative in different perspectives helps us to know the What and Why’s of the story. The characters are well developed and contribute their part  in making the read a lot more exciting than expected.

The author has tactfully placed clues throughout the plot for the readers to pick it up. The book not just captivates you but also gives you the edge of the moments which leaves you in the midst of a maze where everything is grey. There are plenty of twists and turns and as the mystery unravels itself slowly it turns unputdownable. The climax is unpredictable and is worth the the time spent.

My Verdict

An intriguing and entertaining read that will keep readers guessing until the very end.
